6 Simple iPhone Improvements That Apple Should Have Already Made

Let me start by saying that I love my iPhone. I think it’s the best piece of technology that I’ve ever used. Apple did a great job like they do with all of their products. That makes it even more baffling that they left these things out and haven’t added any of them in a software update yet.

I’m not going to list the obvious things here. We all know that it should have wireless modem capabilities. We all know that it should be open to developers. GPS would be nice, but I’m going to talk about simple changes that should have been in from the start, but failing that, could now be included in a firmware update.

Disclaimer: If any of these turn out to be things that I just haven’t found a way to do yet then feel free to rip me in the comments. I’m OK with that as long as you also explain how to do it.

1. Send a text message to multiple contacts:
I like to send text messages to a couple of people at once. Why can’t I pick them from my contact list. My 2 year old RAZR was able to do this with no problem.

2. Picture messages:
I can’t take a photo and text message it to someone? Every other phone in the world does this. The previous 3 phones that I owned had this capability. It’s practically the reason that cameras were put on cell phones. I know that I can accomplish this goal via e-mail, but that’s a hack. Not very Apple-like.

3. Different Vibrate Alerts:
I keep my phone on vibrate all the time. I react differently to an e-mail, text message, missed call, or voice mail. I’m sure that you do as well. If my iPhone is on vibrate these things all feel the same to me so I have to remove it from my pocket to check the screen. This is another feature that I’ve been used to having for years.

4. Video Capabilities:
The camera is awesome. There’s a ton of storage. Why can’t I shoot videos?

These next two I can almost give Apple a pass on because I can understand the reasoning, but they would still be nice to have.

5. Integration with the button on my Jabra headset:
For those of you without bluetooth headsets the button on the top of the headset is supposed to hang up calls among other things. However it’s up to the phone to recognize it. The iPhone doesn’t. I know that Apple would much prefer me buy their headset, but I already have my Jabra and I can’t afford their headset after buying the iPhone. I already don’t like having to dial the phone in headset mode. It would be nice to, at least, be able to hand up via the headset.

6. Voice Dialing:
This is another great headset feature. My RAZR could recognize my voice as I told it which name in my phone book to call. It wasn’t perfect, but it was pretty damn good for a couple of years ago. It would seem that with today’s technology Apple could have built this feature in. I do give them a pass here though because all signs point to Apple coming out with something truly great in the speech recognition UI realm. I could see them not wanting to start the iPhone off with a sub-par interface when they know that it will be obsolete after they change the game.

      There was this guy see.
He wasn’t very bright and he reached his adult life without ever having learned “the facts”.
Somehow, it gets to be his wedding day.
While he is walking down the isle, his father tugs his sleeve and says,

“Son, when you get to the hotel room…Call me”

Hours later he gets to the hotel room with his beautiful blushing bride and he calls his father,

“Dad, we are the hotel, what do I do?”

“O.K. Son, listen up, take off your clothes and get in the bed, then she should take off her clothes and get in the bed, if not help her. Then either way, ah, call me”

      A few moments later…

“Dad we took off our clothes and we are in the bed, what do I do?”

O.K. Son, listen up. Move real close to her and she should move real close to you, and then… Ah, call me.”

      A few moments later…

“DAD! WE TOOK OFF OUR CLOTHES, GOT IN THE BED AND MOVED REAL CLOSE, WHAT DO I DO???”

“O.K. Son, Listen up, this is the most important part. Stick the long part of your body into the place where she goes to the bathroom.”

      A few moments later…

“Dad, I’ve got my foot in the toilet, what do I do?”

In most cases a product’s rating went down, expanding the range between highest and lowest rated.Unlike Kaspersky, Symantec provides Norton users with little explanation of its features or settings, either in the configuration settings or on its technical support section. Also we don’t like Norton’s dependency on Internet Explorer to explain Help items or services provided by Symantec (windows pop up in IE even when Firefox is your default browser), or that fee-based services have once again crept into the technical support section. Having improved a lot
last year in Symantec’s flagship antivirus product, it makes sense we’d see more modest enhancements for this year’s Norton AntiVirus 2008. While Norton
      AntiVirus.
